Starting my Internship (at Trinigy, Germany)

Some of you may know I was recently accepted as Intern Software Engineer at Trinigy, Germany. I arrived in Engingen (near Stuttgart) yesterday (on April 2nd) and I will start my internship tomorrow. It lasts 6-months which is quite extensive, but I expect to learn a lot from this experience.

I don't know what effect this will have on my personal (XNA)projects. I might be able to work on them whenever I have some spare time available. One of the projects is V-script which I recently talked about. I'm considering making it open-source, but have not made my decision yet. It all depends on the quality of the end-result. If you're interested in seeing the V-script (or 'Node-graph Framework') as open-source, leave your comment and let me know if you have any specific features you would be interested in... (I will publish a feature-list soon)

I was going to publish a video of the assignment I had to complete in order to get accepted, but I'm not sure if that is allowed. If I'm able to publish it, I will upload a video about it soon.

  1. Congrats on the internship.

I'd find a visual scripting system useful, I was looking for one for XNA a while back

  2. Hi there,

Congrats for the trinigy intern, hope this will be great experience for and all here have feedback from it :P

BTW, publishing the source code of node based scripting framework will be a great thing regarding the few comments ....

Hope read you soon and good luck

  3. I have got use to using visual scripting at work now and would love to use yours in my XNA projects. What types of nodes can be used? Can multiple entities be linked to the same event node? I have found that in particular to help with the readability during bug fixing.

  4. There will be some built-in node types. Most likely Conditions and Variable types and possibly a few common action nodes. I'm still exploring the possibilities so suggestions like yours are very welcome.

"Multiple objects on the same event-node" Do you explicitly mean Event-node and not an Action-node... If so, would you have any real-world examples of where you used it?

One thing that comes to mind is linking multiple trigger volumes to a single trigger_touched event-node.

  5. Hi again,

Complex nodes maybe look like this Allegorithmic's designer interface :

  6. Hey Tom,

Might be interesting, if you do release this open source, to join our efforts between your visual scripting tool and my IGF logic compenent system. I believe this could be a great addition to SunBurn ;)

  7. Hi,

Yeah I was actually considering something like that. I have no idea when this will happen, there is a lot of great stuff going on at Trinigy along with several school related projects that have a deadline. However, I haven't given up hope on finding time for this ;)
